I placed the bet around lunchtime. I cut off at 11.00 which i know is half a point or a point higher than some do so maybe thats the difference.

It could be i will be better off cutting off a point lower because I have caught some long ones but as it is a new bank with small stakes im willing to let it run as it is at moment so I have live data to make those minute decisions later in the year. Those little decisions are just tweaking things to maxmise profit but over a course of a year it wont make much difference points wise.

It did also just touch 11.00 just before the off and after listening to some advice from Mat a bit back, I have the same cut-off th. There is no doubt over the last couple of months of following them, that there are lower prices on offer to lay when you do them at lunchtime. As you say, over the long term it shouldn't make that much of a difference I wouldn't think.

It looked like the Lay'em today would be voided but they seem to be backing it in so will be included now.

FRI 22/1/10 - SUN 24/01/10

A profitable three day period with the layem back hardly moving but the NHPM bank by a good chunk. A real mixed bag with the prices I gave on the winning horses. On the layem I had two winners. Headache a 7/2 shot i manage to lay at double that price! Hower the other winning lay I managed to underlay by a couple of points. Just the one winner on the NHPM and again i managed to under lay by a couple of points. So i either did very good or very bad when laying those winning horse but the up shot is over the three horses i underlayed by about half a point so well pleased with that.

Im also into underlay figures on the NHPM when it comes to the winning horses which is nice!

Just a couple of lays on the layem system and they both lost so no problem there. However, on the NHPM there was two winners from 3 lays and that has seen the bank decrease. Fortunatley, I have done really well on the prices again. One horse won at 6/4 so there was very little damage there, but the other won at 9/1 and I managed to lay it a 6.4. Amazingly on the NHPM im actually underlaying on the winning horses by 10% rather than my target which is 10% overlay. I estimate tha has saved me about 16 points although I did manage to catch a 14/1 shot in december which negates a large part of that. Its fair to say though, that its my underlaying which is resulting in me still showing a profit in Jan on a monthly strike rate which is now under 84% following 3 three winners from last four lays.

Poor day today with one winner from 4 on the NHPM and one winner from 3 on the layem. As seems to be the trend with me, I managed to underlay the NHPM winner by 0.2 points but I heavily overlayed the layem by 2.67 points. Both banks still in profit for Jan despite a hard few days but certainly on the NHPM thats because I have done really well on the prices I have offered. No flat lays today and a frustrating day on the NHPM where a last race lay turns a potential 6 point winning day into a 3 point losing day. The stats show I have had one more winner in Feb than a breakeven month would produce so not disastrous but does feel like wading in treacle sometimes. During the course of a year most months either end up one loser short, level or one loser in credit and then you get a couple of big months where the difference is two or more losers. This has all the hallmarks of being one of those small losing/Small gain months whereas little more than a week ago it looked like one of those big winning months.

A slight improvement over the past couple of days but nothing to shout about.

One interesting fact is the layem is breaking even this month so far despite the strike rate been well down at 80.56%. This is due to the average price of the winning horse been shorter than average. Im hoping this is a correction as I believe the average winning horse price was above average Pre-Christmas. If this is the case then if the strike rate gets corrected soon it should lead to quite a good climb back.

On the NHPM it is much simpler. The strike rate is low for March and thats has dragged it down to losing around 20 points so far. I have had four more winners than the usual strike rate. Thge average points I have lost on each winner is 5.74. If strike rate was normal I would be around 5 points up so its nothing to do with the price of the winning horses I just need a correction in strike rate.

Just two lays today on the NHPM and they both won. Not a massive amount of damage as they were both short at 5/2 each. Its going to take a good last three days of March to break even for the month as Im now around 16 points down across the two banks. NHPM is running at 79% for march and the saving grace is im only 15 points down for the month on that strike rate. Normallyy im looking for a 85% S/R to breakeven on the NHPM. It looks like this month 83% would breakeven this month so not as bad as it could be but a slog of a month really due to the Layem not counter balancing it as that has stayed pretty static all month.
