I think the writing was on the wall as far as today is concerned after the 1.10pm in which I had my largest ever bet on one horse.
The horse in question traded thousands at 1.01 but still managed to lose.
It has got steadily worse since. :(

You know it isn't going to be your day when a 2/11 shot gets beat in a 3 horse race :)

Wogan wins the 2.30pm - it's going to be expensive day isn't it?

I was matched at 10.0. :(

I was matched at 10.0. :(I got 9.8 but I'm fixed liability so it was going to cost me the same whatever.

Matched at 8.8 on Wogan so not too bad on that, for some reason I seem to be able to underlay winners on the NHPM but overlay them by about 13% on the layem.

Yes Callerlilly adds to the misery
As does the incompetence of Barwell Bridge. :(

After The Show - another double lay for me - goes in at 8/1 to compound the misery, rather unnecessarily. I had already got the idea it wasn't going to be a good day but there is no need to make it any worse, come on.

Add Quinte Du Chatelet to the list of winning lays in a race which also contained a losing back on my biggest bank.
Carnage. ;fire;fire;fire

what happened to the horse that traded at 1.01? bad ride or just lost stamina?

Not sob with Bajan Tryst going in carrying a decent wad of my cash. Still down on the day but the winning slays have only been low prices, and one horse to go :thumbs:thumbs:thumbs ...... although for a profit today I'll need to dance naked around the chicken feet :ooo

not a bad day for me, nicely in a bit of profit, but not nearly enough to make back what I have lost the last couple of days, but its a welcome start.

If the last lay lay loses I will finsih 2.5 points down which wont bother me too much.

I had clawed back a good chunk of the losses in the second half of the day then Kirsty's Lad goes in. A double lay at 7.6!! ;fire

I'll put my figures up later but I know it is the worst day since beginning. In fact it is twice as bad as my previous worst day, carnage would be a good word on the lays these last 5 days. Today has been a real eye-opener anyway.

no wonder kirsty lad was backed so much, the pro,s would of been on it big time.it lost to lyrical intent by 1/2 a length.lyrical intent won today under a 6lb penalty in the 4.40 easy, went of at 5/4 but touched 6/5,was trading early on over 3.i should of payed more attention early on tw@, ::swear

Jinxed that didnt I, layed that one at 7.00 so I finish the day just under 10 points down.

My daily figures (excluding some darts bets) are
W2W Systems: 2 from 7, down 1.95pts
W2W Lays: 7 from 10, down 10.83pts
Other: 22 from 48, down 0.71pts
That doesn't look too bad but believe me, it was indeed an expensive day :(

My figures do look bad, it was not a good day at all. January was going very well at the start of this week, maybe too well. The lays have lost nearly 46 points since Monday.
Backs 3/17 -10.85pts
Lays -17.15pts

not to bad 4 me today,i had a good price with thunderstruct ,5 went of 11/4 so up 2.85 after comm with my biggest bank, my only other win bet was in the same race (mister green). just noted that our first lay in the layem lost to lyrical intent by just over a length (libre) 1 to note 4 next time out , should be good form

The worst day I have ever had but I feared it had been coming.
The NHPM and the Lay'em had been due some winners and the Trainer 3 had been due some losers. When these things all happen on the same day it spells disaster!
It is a measure of the size of my Trainer 3 bank that, had either of the results in the 1.10pm or the 4.05pm been reversed, then I would have ended the day in profit!
Just noticed that both of these races were at Chepstow. I reckon if I analysed all the times I've backed a horse at Chepstow, it would show the highest proportion of second places in comparison with all other courses. I just don't tend to get many winners there!

I just don't tend to get many winners there!I happen to keep stats on each course, although not broken down into backs and lays. Chepstow is ranked 33rd on SR, 30th on average profit (£) and 46th on average profit (pts). Those rankings are out of 60 as I don't count courses where I have less than 100 bets. Brighton and Goodwood are my best courses; Plumpton and Cheltenham the worst.

Forty sixth out of sixty appears to suggest that it is perhaps not as bad as I thought but also that I'm not imagining it!
I never seem to do well at Perth or Nottingham either. I seem to remember Keith saying he enjoys Perth and does quite well there though!

Perth is ranked 54th, 10th and 35th. Nottingham is 6th, 22nd and 36th.
Of these ranks, I'd say the average profit (pts) is the most important one and on that measure Perth and Nottingham are middle of the pack.
York has been an absolute stinker for me over the years.

I do, but what helps is visiting these types of off the road tracks. I always do well at Chester as I've spent a lot of time there watching how horses handle the track from different angles while 99.9% of the punters were :drnkand :pss money to the bookies....

Chester - ranked 24th, 2nd and 13th. I do quite well with bets at Chester.
