My Computer is not showing my DVD drive, which means when I insert a cd it' not appearing anywhere.

I have checked the DVD driver and it says,

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

But when I click on update driver - it tells me that the best software for my device is already installed.

This happened previously and I did a system restore to get it working. However I don't know how long it ha been this way this time and don't fancy doing another system restore if it can be helped!

Any ideas?

I'm not stupid. Toast doesn't fit in the dvd drive. It was the eggs I tried to cook in it! :doh
