Hi i was wandering if anyone could tell me when a horse is declared to run in a future race. Not a big race such as the gold cup but say a 5f at Kempton on a wednesday evening.

Also once declared where does the racing post collect this information to publish its cards up to 5 days in advance?

any help would be very much appreciated

Visit the RP, click on cards, should see a row:

TodayTomorrowFri 6thSat 7thSun 8thMon 9thTue 10thBig Race Entries

Usually covers the 5-day stage

But for an individual horse:

Click on it's name & you should see a row above its form:

Not sure if you have to subscribe for that sort of info though, don't thinks so -

Hope that helps & is what you wee looking for...

Horses can be entered into a race weeks before but you have to declare you horse will run normally 24hrs before the race. If there are more horses declared than permitted to run then they are balloted under certain rules for example horses that haven't won a point to point within a certain period will be balloted out first ( this has happened to us twice with our horse )

Not having to declare them 24hrs before gives us a chance to see what other horses have been entered. If we are running the horse for fitness then we dont want to enter in a weak field and then end up placed so the handicapper gives us a mark not in our favour so we will leave till last minute before pulling out or staying in the race depending on other entries.

On an other point our new horse runs this weekend :biggrin:
