We've had a cluster of serious injuries the last couple of months, and these jockeys risk injury for about £130 a ride. Yes they get about 9% of prize money, but that's not much when you only get say 100 rides a year and win 5 races averaging a prize of £3000. Luckily we now have excellent aftercare for injured jockeys thanks to the IJF and people like Jack Berry :thumbs
