A project to reorganise 999 fire control centres wasted nearly half a billion pounds and was a "complete failure" says an MPs committee.

The more money you give governments to spend, the more they'll p!ss away on their pet projects, which are more to do with the egos of politicians than the public need.
Millennium Dome ring a bell anyone? That's only viable now it's been taken over by a business, otherwise it would've remained an £800m white elephant. Needless to say though, all of the original buildings were torn down a few short years after construction.
That's why I've got to laugh at protests over cuts. You feel like shaking some people and asking them to look at the gargantuan amounts wasted. If governments took more care with our money, there wouldn't have to be any cuts, although the public purse is always bigger than it should be, at least outwith health and education.
Even in these sectlors the money often doesn't go where it should. Far too many of our so-called elected representatives have a tax junkie mentality and ought to listen more to those who pay their wages and inflated expenses, that's if they can stay out of the nick.

Let's not forget the 2 quote levels from the private sector .... £ for a private quote, £x2 for a government quote :ermmm .... this has gone on for decades and each government has done nothing to stop it.

Fire control centre? Would that be a fire station? Why does everything have to be pointlessly rebranded?
Governments are like the heirarchy of large companies. I've worked for a couple and new methods and ideas come down from on high from people who have no idea how the company runs at the ground level, everyone knows it's going to be a huge mess and a few months down the line, changed back to what it was before. Time and time again it happened. I always remember a big company wide meeting one day where a new 'buzz word' was introduced, "you'll be hearing a lot of this word in the future" they kept saying throughout the meeting at any and every opportunity. It was never heard of again :laugh

My local fire station is closed a weekends... so either don't have a fire or if you do make sure it's a slow burner as the nearest fire station then is 12 miles away :doh1:
