It's about time we had a PM who stood up to the :butthead:'oles in the EU. It seems we've been giving away our country since Maggie stood up to them back in 1871!!!! :ooo

Nicolas Sarkozy and Angela Merkel are acting like a pair of very powerful bullies, railroading weaker countries into accepting a deal to prop up a currency which was always destined to fail.

The main goal of the Common Market was supposed to be trade agreements which made business transactions easier between European nations, or least that's what certain political leaders with other, more grand plans told their electorate.

However, it's now becoming a suffocating, anti-democratic and hopelessly corrupt monster, which attempts to treat an entire continent as if it was one entity. How can you possibly impose a one-size-fits-all economic and legal template on dozens of countries with widely differing cultures and claim this is democratic or even desirable?

Some politicians manage to keep a straight face when they loftily say that each country has MEPs to put the case for their own nation, however this ignores two things: Brussels tends to attract politicians who actually believe the EU is a great idea, and, more importantly, MEPS have no real power anyway, as the big decisons are made by those higher up the chain who have a definite agenda to create a European superstate.

If you doubt the EU'S contempt for democracy and its criminality, consider that the Greek Prime Minster was hauled before the EU high command for having the temerity to propose holding a referendum in his own country and was then replaced by someone of the EU's choosing. When Berlusconi was ousted from the top job in Italy, his successor, quel surprise, was a former EU commissioner.

As for the graft in Brussels, independent auditors have refused to sign off the EU's accounts for the past 16 consecutive years and gargantuan amounts of money are either missing or unaccounted for. The petty-minded pen-pushers in Brussels love to make the lives of people who run businesses more difficult, but if the latter were as cavalier as the EU are with money which isn't theirs, they'd be in prison in no time and not looking forward to a recession-proof office job and a generous pension. When you examine these facts - and facts they undoubtedly are - how can anyone defend this thoroughly rotten excuse for a political executive?

But it shows you how much fear Sarkozy and Merkel have instilled into other nations when the latter meekly accept anything put before them.
