Hi
Can you clear up some confusion for me regarding weight rank and race card number.
If a system says the horse must be in top 5 of the weights, so racecards number 1-5 what happens if horse no 6 is the same weight as horse no 5?
Are horses numbered 1 - 5 always, the top 5 weighted horses despite the fact the racecard says horses 6 and 7 are carrying the same weight?
Thanks

If the horses are all the same weight in a race then the Weight Rank number would be 1 for all of them. If you have 20 runners and only 3 different weights then the Weight Rank can only go up to 3. This tends to happen in non-handicaps as horses run off level weights apart from sex and age allowances, and a few others depending on the race conditions.

The reason I ask this is because of two rules from two systems that I have bought off you:
System 2: Must NOT be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th in the weights. These are always the top 5 in the race card, so do not include these
and
System 2: Horse weight rank must be 6 or lower
So for system 1 do I go on race card number only, even if horse no 6 is the same weight as no 5?
System 2, I just go on weight rank and ignore the race card numbers?

If it's a handicap, then it usually is just the top 5 we are talking about as they are usually different weights. So generally Weight Rank 6 would be in most cases No.6 on the racecard, although you need to double check as in some cases some of the top horses may be the same weight so you may end up with the horse Weight Ranked 6 actually being No.7 on the racecard as two above it are on the same weight.
