Big Mac Sacked....!!

If you are not aware, Ch4 now have 100% of terrestrial, and the broadcasting was taken over by another company, it had been Sunset & Vine for years.

Along with Big Mac being sacked, Derek Thompson, Mike Cattermole and Alastair Down have also gone.

I know Derek & John can be annoying for those of us who know quite a bit about the racing game as they often talk ::swear, however they have distinct personalities that stand out for newbies.

No idea why they got rid of Mike, he talks sense, but I've never thought much of Alastair, who seems to spend most Saturday's hungover :doh1:

I doubt any of them will be out of a job as the racing channels will pick them up.

The piece I read about this didn't mention John Francome & Lesley Graham's fate.
Are they on their way out as well?

Not sure about Francome, but Lesley seems to rarely be around these days, although I don't watch CH4 racing that much unless I'm trading, as it's faster than the other channels :wink:

I'm afraid it has been a long time coming for Mac. His attitude towards his colleagues just doesn't warrant a place on television (nor any other media with large audiences) anymore, if it ever did at all...

I suppose with BBC dropping racing, it was an opportunity to freshen things up by taking on Claire and several others. Hopefully it will work and won't have the 'daybreak' effect, otherwise we could be left withl little or no racing on terrestrial tv.
