Maybe EU countries would have more money in the kitty if Brussels wasn't such a haven for corruption. I think it's now 16 years running that independent auditors have refused to sign off the EU's accounts.

The auditors have no agenda other than to produce accounts which in their professional opinion they can justify as a fair and accurate picture of the financial dealings of the EU. The only conclusion you are left with is that MEPs and those higher up the chain are knee deep in graft.

If 'austerity measures' mean cutting back on the gargantuan waste and fiddling in Brussels, bring it on.
