Hi All
Just back off holiday so I'm not up to speed yet.
Spent a couple of hours looking at the 4.50 at Hamilton then an hour reading the form but feel my mind is still in Turkey laying around The Blue Lagoon listening to chill music.
I will wake up soon to the day to day reality of grinding out selections
Anyway
Bank £100
£2 win Pixie Cut (a little unlucky in running LTO so should be a better showing today)
£1 win A Southside Boy (does well here)
The fav Saved By The Bell is lightly raced and more to come but will watch today and back my 2 (stiffer track today)
Bank £97

Might get chance to do the 5.15 Hamilton
Good luck to all having a bet today

Hi Spranger
I'm following this thread with interest.
I notice that you sometimes pick 2 horses in the same race.
Do you ever consider dutching them (if the odds are right) rather than the same stake on each?

Good Afternoon Ada
Thankyou for your interest. For the purposes of the forum I keep it simple. I sometimes will alter the bets for my own purpose but mainly I will go on instinct and experience. I will also look at late money as this IMO is the strong money.
I actually bet the two In the 3.30 but to reduced stakes but levelled them at BOG and got the 12/1.
All the best
Paul

Just a note to explain why I had a bet in the 3.30 after I said no bet.
I was running late due to my Excel spreadsheet corrupting my data so had to pop my formula onto a new spreadsheet. This was a bit of a headache to say the least. Anyway I was rushing in the finish and hadn't taken note of any changes to horses over the winter. The fav Jelly Fish had been gelded and was wearing a hood which I didnt know about until 5 mins before the off. This made me think that the horse might just be a problem horse. so I ruled it out. It was too late to mention this but it did give me the confidence to have a half bet.

Still finding my way round this site but looks an ok place to chill.

5.15 Newmarket
Gone in early on POYLE THOMAS and will have another look at the race later.
I am aware that this is a speculative bet and I don't know how fit the horse is! Jim Crowley is at Haydock and Richard Kingscote rides.
The horse is entered on 28Jun14 3:50 (Early closer) at Newcastle, John Smith's Northumberland Plate (Heritage Handicap) which suggests than a distance campaign is to follow. It will need to win this race in order to get in that race so Im hopeful of a good run.
Good luck to all who are putting down their cash today.

Still mulling over the 5.30 Ripon and my eyes keep going to Triple Eight but the case is weak and speculative. This one has won over 10F at Ripon and only run over 12F once at Wolves (13F once). If I discard the last two runs on soft ground on turf then we come back to the run at York over 10F good were it finished 8th beaten 5 1/4 lengths. This one has been running in reasonable races on turf. It might be that it doesn't stay 12F properly. Amazing Blue Sky could lead but there is no natural front runner that I can see. If it turns into a crawl then maybe a non stayer could win this race.
Save by the Bell is a winner LTO and is only lightly raced. That recent win came at Hamilton which is a lot stiffer test than this and with no real lead I would be worried. On saying that this horse could be the improver and might not be stopped????
It's very unsatisfactory at the moment and confusing.
Although there can be no bet worth £2 of my profits I'm going to nevertheless think about a small non account speculative wager at 16/1 on Triple Eight.
Well onto the next race
Good luck to those parting with their hard earned cash today

One Pursuit looks the one to beat, Linguine looks like the natural leader and on this flat track might give them a scare. Innsbruck is the most interesting and is unexposed, this one has got to be a big danger and might be better suited by this galloping track rather than its last run at Chester.

Because of the last mentioned I have decided this race is a NO BET

Sharp. Stamina is rarely at a premium and strong-travelling types with a turn of foot are often favoured. Mainly flat, then rising to the summit of a slight hill after which there is a downhill turn to the straight. Lingfield replaced Polytrack in October 2012.

Initial thoughts are that there are 3 horses who have led before but they have done so at a steady pace. It could be that there will be just enough of a gallop to make it a true test of stamina.
The Favourite AIYANA looks to be going places and her latest run was at Southwell in April over 14F was here first run for 5 months so she can be forgiven that and may come on quite a bit. Prior to that she ran 3 good races in a row. The race at Wolves was a 0-75 and she only went down by ¾ length to Flemish School 7/2J who went on to better things. The third in that race Caterina De Medici also went on to win NTO though it was a maiden.
The second fav SIR FRANK MORGAN ran a stinker LTO but that was on soft, I don’t know if there was something amiss but I would have expected better especially after a good 2nd to Hallstatt (IRE) 6/1 over 16f G/F at Notts. Mark Johnston has not said anything about the last run but if it was the ground then the run prior to that was reasonable although Hallstatt only went up 3lb and SIR FRANK MORGAN 1lb so I guess the handicapper didn’t think a lot to the race.
MUNSARIM b has won 5 times at the track albeit over lesser distances. He has been running on and keeping on just recently so it may be worth trying this new trip.
MONTJESS p hasn’t been seeing out her recent races but the race at Wolves in November against Layline gives hope.
The profile of Poitin looks more interesting than most but the run against Hallstatt and SIR FRANK MORGAN confuses me a little especially as it was LTO.
After consideration I will risk a £2 win on AIYANA 2/1 BOG and hope I’m correct in the assumption that she will strip a lot fitter this time. One I haven’t mentioned is First Warning 11/1 BOG and although this one carry’s the top weight I think it is worth a saver £1 win. Might be that the latter is a classier type than these.
All the best

Going; Soft
(GoingStick: 7.4 on Wednesday at 07:00)

All races will run on the Inner Home Straight.
Race distances:
1m 3f 198yds (please note slight difference to Racing Post in yardage)
Weather
17mm of rain in two cloudbursts overnight. Forecast dry and
bright.
Track type
Left handed, flat, about thirteen furlongs round, with a run-in of four and a half furlongs which rises throughout. Interesting to note that some think it wise to be placed well turning for home. This could be because of the slight rise in the home straight stops hold up horses making ground quickly enough?

JAZZ MASTER b kept on under pressure final furlong against Arab Spring 10F. Stayed on from over 1f out to take 2nd near finish against MAGIC HURRICANE 11F. Brighton. Track has similarity to Epsom. Just watched the flyover of the racecourse on YouTube. Sometimes racing can’t show the full contours of the track like this flyover. The camber looks awful and I wouldn’t want to back an inexperienced horse at this venue (although it would teach such horses a lot).
Now that the form has settled down and the going too I feel it’s time to come back.Had a bit of a bad run on here but hey ho that’s racing. Been scratching my head a bit but happier now.
As I feel its time to look at the sprinters I will take a pull on bets but will put a few up and just see how the go for the moment.
