Here are some selections for Wednesday.
Wednesday 12 August 2015
Angelito (8.20 Bath)
Drops back to class 5 company after a string of decent attempts. Usually keeps on well in the final furlong, maybe a more front end approach will finally see him over the line, having won twice at 5f on decent ground, but that was 3 years ago. One for the seat of your pants punter as the price will be awful at around 7/2 (A bigger price would have made more appeal) but if only life was that simple.
Stake: 1 point Win.
Flash City (3.35 Beverley)
Made all to beat Rothesay Chancer (1¼L) over the minimum trip (4 wins) back in June. That followed a decent short head defeat by Pea Shooter a week earlier. Is only up 3 pounds in the weights after two ninth places in better class races, one here at Beverley and the other in a class 3 at Musselburgh. Is a fast sort and a committed front runner, likes to play come and catch me if you can. Will need to break fast and tackle the Beverley hill with an early lead. Will appreciate the big drop back in class here. A price of around 12/1 is expected.
Stake: 1 point Each-Way.
Lochalsh (5.20 Newton Abbot)
Ran well two starts ago in June in similar company. Going down by 7¼L to Miner's Lamp at Stratford and is now 3 pounds lower in the weights. Was going well with the leaders up to three out and kept on well to be some 40 lengths clear of the rest. The step up of two furlongs here could just be what is needed. A tasty 10/1 is expected to be on offer.
Stake: 1 point Each-Way.
Primogeniture (4.40 Beverley)
Does carry a penalty for a decent win at Ripon last week. But the connections must feel it has a good chance of repeating that form here, before the handicapper stuffs it. Finished second here at Beverley back in June, beaten just a ¼L by King Of The Celts, who has come out and won again over the same course and distance since. Two good seconds in between times gives this selection a cracking chance. I am supprised that it is not the current odds favourite, but may well shorten from it's 4/1 on offer.
Stake: 2 points Win.
Total Stakes: 7 points.
That will do for today.
